Elder abuse and neglect has been hitting the headlines of major news broadcasters and publishers across the nation. Sadly there is an estimated 20,000 cases of abuse in nursing homes every year. Some believe that number to be significantly under estimated because of under reporting and delayed reporting which decreases the ability of those in power to assess the situation. If you have a loved one in the care of a nursing home you should take this information to heart. Elder-Abuse.info is focused on providing an extensive library of elder abuse research, elder abuse prevention information, elder abuse education, including reporting nursing home neglect or other types of elder abuse. We also report elder abuse legal news and nursing home neglect cases. Find the Nursing Home, Elder Care, or Elder Law information in the following categories: |

Don't let your fear of involving yourself in other's business stop you from reporting your suspicions of elder abuse. You could be saving someone's life. The reporting agencies in each state are different, but every state has a service designated to receive and investigate allegations of elder abuse and neglect. If these agencies cannot determine provable abuse, they will make referrals for counseling. Do not put the victim of abuse in a more vulnerable position by confronting the abuser yourself unless you have the elder's permission and are in a position to help the abuse victim immediately by moving him or her to a safe place. |
